Define Transfers

Authorized users can utilize the graphical Administrator client to perform configuration and monitoring functions within Transfer Anywhere. This Administrator client can be used to pre-define the resources available to Transfer Anywhere, which may include database servers within an organization, FTP Servers, E-mail addresses, SMTP servers and Key Stores.

An intuitive wizard is included within the Administrator for creating Transfer Definitions. This wizard allows the user to graphically select data sources, conversions, mappings, compression, encryption criteria and distribution lists when defining transfers. The Transfer Definitions are saved in the Transfer Anywhere central database for enterprise usage by authorized personnel and applications.
As an example, a Transfer Definition could be created to perform the following steps:
- Retrieve records from a table (i.e. iSeries physical file).
- Convert the records into a fixed-width text file.
- Compress the text file into a ZIP file (with AES encryption).
- Send the ZIP file to a FTP server.
