GoAnywhere Upgrade Instructions

i5/OS

Please follow the instructions below to upgrade GoAnywhere.

  1. Sign on to the System i with the QSECOFR user profile or with a profile that has *ALLOBJ authority.
  2. End the GoAnywhere server by executing the ENDGA command.
  3. Wait until the GoAnywhere subsystem is completely shutdown.
  4. If GoAnywhere is configured to run on a database other than the one shipped with the product, make a backup of that database before continuing.
  5. Make sure there are no locks on the GoAnywhere's installation library or objects. You can run the command WRKOBJLCK OBJ(GOANYWHERE) OBJTYPE(*LIB) to check for locks. Do not proceed with the upgrade until all locks are released.
  6. Apply the upgrade by executing the UPGRADEGA command.
  7. Make sure the user profile that will be starting the subsystem has *RWX permission to the GoAnywhere installation folder and the entire directory tree.  V5R4 and later provides a command to change the authority on an entire directory tree.  For example,

    CHGAUT OBJ('/linoma/goanywhere') USER(PGUSER) DTAAUT(*RWX) OBJAUT(*ALL) SUBTREE(*ALL)

where ' /linoma/goanywhere' is the installation directory and PGUSER is the user profile that will be starting the subsystem.
  8. Start the GoAnywhere server by executing the STRGA command.
  9. Ask your users to clear the Browser's cache before signing in to GoAnywhere.

NOTE
Various commands referred above are located in the GoAnywhere installation library, which by default is GOANYWHERE.
