Finding and Encrypting Sensitive Fields on System i

It is critical to provide a high level of protection for sensitive data such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers and other identity information. Besides maintaining the trust of their customers and employees, it is important that organizations don't fall out of compliance with PCI, HIPAA, GLBA, Sarbanes Oxley and State Privacy laws.

Before you can begin to encrypt sensitive data on your systems, you need to first know all the places it is located. For IBM i customers, this data is likely stored throughout various database files and fields in one or more libraries. Your IT staff may remember the names of some of the files/fields that contain this confidential information, but it is critical that no elements are overlooked. The new Find Database Fields (FNDDBFLD) tool from Linoma Software solves this problem.

In this Webinar, we will show you how FNDDBFLD works and the kind of information it provides. FNDDBFL is a tool offered free of charge from Linoma Software so you can quickly indentify fields in files that contain a certain data structure. For example, you can quickly perform a search for any numeric fields that contain a 16 digit number (e.g. credit card numbers) or perform a search for any alpha fields that contain a numeric pattern like 999-99-9999 or 999999999 (e.g. Social Security numbers or Canadian Social Insurance numbers).

Field Encryption on System i...  Doing it right!

If your programmers used IBM’s APIs to encrypt data on the System i, then your organization is at risk of failing audits and risking sensitive data if you don’t have adequate key management, security controls and audit trails in place.

During this webcast, we will discuss the latest PCI standards and requirements for protecting sensitive data (e.g. credit card numbers, SSNs, etc.) and managing keys.  We will then point out the pitfalls and dangers that are often found in home-grown encryption solutions.  Towards the end of the webcast, we will demonstrate a more effective approach to encryption and key management with our “Crypto Complete” product.

Securing FTP Transfers

Secure FTP is a popular method for protecting data transmissions, especially when that data is sent over the internet. During this webinar, we will cover the following topics:

- Vulnerabilities in traditional FTP
- Introduction to the Secure FTP protocols of FTPS and SFTP
- How to authenticate Secure FTP connections
- Key and certificate management
- Automatic error notification
- Logging and audit trails

Towards the end of the webcast, we will also give a brief demonstration of Linoma Software's GoAnywhere product. GoAnywhere is being used by System i customers to quickly set up and automate Secure FTP transmissions without the need for programming or special skills.

Programming with PHP: An Introduction for RPGers

Development guru Jon Paris offers this informative look at one of this year’s hottest topics in this sneak peek of his popular RPG & DB2 Summit seminar.  In this 1-hour event, Jon explains why PHP is a natural choice for RPGers who want to create interactive, dynamic web applications quickly and easily.

Just like RPG programmers, PHP users tend to focus on “getting the job done.” The simplicity and power of the language reflects that design perspective.  PHP also incorporates a straightforward object model gently eases procedural programmers into the world of Object Orientation.

Jon will introduce you to the basics of programming in PHP on System i by drawing comparisons with the RPG IV language we all know and love. He will also highlight some of the System i specific features that have been incorporated into the language.

This 1-hour web training event is based on a half-day seminar to be held April 14, 2009 in conjunction with the next RPG & DB2 Summit (http://www.systemideveloper.com/).

Protecting Sensitive Data Using Encryption & Key Management

Security breaches cost companies millions of dollars each year, yet data theft is increasing at an alarming rate.  At the same time, disclosure laws addressing data breaches are dramatically increasing company liabilities.  Many of the data breach incidents result from network intrusions, theft of portable devices, and unauthorized access by internal employees.

This Webinar will be conducted by the Chief Architect of Linoma Software, Bob Luebbe.  Mr. Luebbe will be discussing how to effectively secure and encrypt your company's critical data to avoid costly breaches.

All attendees will receive the Beyond the Security Breach White Paper.  This White Paper explains how organizations should deploy solutions to protect their information assets from theft and misuse.  It also explains how to eliminate the technical obstacles facing both management and IT departments using encryption technologies.
